So much so, that I didn't get it until I was almost 19 years old. It's not that I don't necessarily trust myself (albeit my sense of direction is shit), but it blows my mind how much blind faith you have to put into others to behave responsibly behind the wheel of a huge piece of machinery that could KILL you. Blows my mind still to this day. I was almost hit in the middle of a pedestrian crosswalk on campus last week by a woman who was texting and driving. The sickening part was the fact that she didn't even realize she almost hit me... She just rolled right by without EVER LOOKING UP. Are you kidding me?! I think they should raise the age requirement to 18 and also work on changing the way driving is looked at in general. People just don't take it seriously. Your lives are literally in each other's hands, people!!!! Looking back and adding up your accomplishments, big and small. Taking a peek and seeing the good you've done, and where you see yourself if you stay down the current path. I suspect that there's a good chance you'll prove to yourself that there's not a lot "more" that you should be doing. Was it only the pilots? Was it all of them? Regardless, many of them knew the full plans and felt good about their choice. Feel free to refine my statement to include only the pilots, if need be. The amount of time the leaders spent planning, educating themselves, living engaged within American communities, living (on the surface, at least) well acclimatized American lives speaks to awareness. Their vilification of us made it easy to see any suffering caused to be holy retribution.

In the end, though, this is quibbling detail. Your conclusion captures me main idea: that the notion of murdering for God is madness.

Thanks for your thoughtful reply.Carlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05908199167460378043noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19678680.post-41914612970487598202010-09-11T21:43:45.972-07:002010-09-11T21:43:45.972-07:00Honestly, were the people on the plane really all ...Honestly, were the people on the plane really all that aware of what they were about to do? Did they know that they were going to hijack the plane more than 24 hours before actually boarding it? And even as they carried out their deeds, I don't think any of them (besides the pilots) knew that they were going to crash the buildings into the tower. And did they delight in the pain they caused? Or, did they even have enough perspective to see past the intense pain that was their own lives? If only they could stand up to the Americans! Their lives wouldn't have to be so miserable! And if only we could stand up to the terrorists! Perhaps our lives won't have to be so miserable! Perhaps, in a sense, perhaps the hijackers were victims along with everyone else on the plane. At what point do we put our guns away and start rebuilding their schools and infrastructure? At what point do we prioritize an end to human suffering, so nobody has to reach this point of desperation? We have the potential to offer a helping hand - a hand not motivated by power or profit, but one extended purely out of compassion.

The US Government and so many citizens chose vengeance -- immense harm, overriding all scripture’s demand for compassion. Ultimately, failure of humanity to rise to it’s potential. A potential spoken of by myriad prophets. Compassion, love; God’s commands overridden by a mad desire to slay for God. Every blue moon or so they do get the software (an old, old version) and then I can combine the two. Of course, I am very behind in this project. So my view is slanted. But, I can't see the book ever being replaced. Electronics still have to run on a power source and use light.

My favourite time to read a book is caught between being in a coffee shop and being in bed late at night or early Sunday morning. In bed at night anything that glares up at me is not going to be fun to read. In the coffee shop, I can sit there for a few hours reading, people watching, pausing to write or draw something. I'd likely outlast the battery supply and then not be able to read.

I'd also miss just having a book in my purse, the physical object. I like the smell of a new book. I have gone to the book store and sniffed the fresh pages, especially the hardcovers which seem to keep the smell longer.

In the long run, a book can fall into the bathtub and still be readable, can't say the same for an ebook.

http://wordgrrls.comLaura Brownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06774385463320319572noreply@blogger.com
