Where I've been posting lately

I'm not dead! For a couple of years, I've been focusing my blogging on my WordPress site, www.CarlSetzer.com . Please come on over and check out what I've been doing over there. Subscribing and following would also be awesome.

Domain Thoughts

I'm thinking of changing the domain of this site. At one point, my domain CarlSetzer.com pointed to this page (which I ported to a WordPress site). I'm trying to decide whether to just bring that back to this site, or whether I should point a different domain here. I own one, ForwardFacing.net that might be a nice fit. I am trying to streamline my life. Does having a bunch of domains over-complicate things? What do you think?

New Blog

Hey everyone, Point your browser over to my new site: www.NotJustSeattle.com . I'm exploring life in the region, but trying to expand past all the Seattle-centric messaging. Let me know what you think.

Reflections on a Blog

I came across this blog from an internal Microsoft news source. Before his death Joshua Isaac was an internal communications specialist here at Microsoft. His blog captures the journey he took as a cancer patient, through hospice care, to his untimely death. The first thought I have is one of sadness. Dying at 37, with young children, is a tragedy on multiple levels. With my own mother’s death, at cancer’s hands, his story resonates strongly with me. This resonance speaks loudly, reminding me to be present; present with my family, with my friends, with all that I love. One never knows when it returns to dust. I admire his courage, facing death with openness and honesty. In his blog he shared a great deal, opening my mind to so much. Amazing character! Not too many people would respond to cancer by crafting an independent film. My Left Hand documents this part of his of his life; cancer and it’s ravages. Though we both worked at Microsoft, the vastness of this...

A Philipine Journey

My e-chum, Veronica , recently returned from a trip to the Phllippines . This picture is part of her trip, and just made me howl.

New Blog

So, in the interests of expressing my interest in blogs, public affairs and communications, I've launched another blog, Digitized Collective. My goal is to focus this on how communications is being changed by the "digital medium". Sounds cool, eh?

Facebook disabled my account « Scobleizer — Tech geek blogger

First post and the most recent post, here . Scoble's incident with Facebook does show a critical issue with the brave new world we live in. The surrounding debate has brought up all kinds of issues, which is good for the meta-debate about technology. There is one (right now) that feel compelled to consider: the social network piece. Mostly, this is related to his most recent post on this thread here . Particularly, he notes that: I've gotten dozens of messages from people who claim to have been erased by Facebook who DID NOT run a script (or so they say). They were just erased for some perceived slight and because they aren’t a famous blogger they haven’t gotten their accounts turned back on. So, this is a company you want to trust your private details to? A company that can not just block access to your account, but can erase every last detail about you. I've seen these claims, too. There are enough of them that makes me give credence to them (at least some of them). This...
