Ninja Batman

This will either be really cool, or a total farce. Either way, I want to see it. And this t-shirt looks pretty awesome. Just might to dedicate a smidge of my geek fashion budget to getting one. Anyone else looking forward to this?

A Film I Discovered: Kubo and the Two Strings

A few days ago I stumbled upon this trailer:  Kubo and the Two Strings . A stop-motion animated films of epic proportions. Yes, I know that's a cliche, but I find it far too fitting to not use it. Anyway, I'm deeply disappointed in myself for not noticing this film before. The trailers, by themselves, are truly beautiful. It has a stellar cast (Matthew McConaughey, Charlize Theron, George Takei, amongst the most luminary), and 97% on Rotten Tomatoes. It's clearly a film that needs to be seen. Just got to figure out where or how that will work out as I doubt it's in the theaters any more (was released last year). So, enjoy the preview below. Let me know what you think. Especially if you've seen it (no spoilers, por favor). UPDATE: Kubo is on Netflix !

A Current Look At "Stand By Me"'s Setting

Wil Wheaton posted this video yesterday . This chap videos the locales where famous movie scenes were shot, then integrates the current footage into the movie. And he does it well. It's 15 minutes, and well worth your time. As a fan of the film, and also having living along the Oregon coast (Astoria), this really hits home. The feeling is a blend of nostalgia, tinged with a little sadness at all the change. Anyway, watch this for yourself. Stand by Me 1986 ( FILMING LOCATION ) from Herve Attia on Vimeo .

Godzilla - Official Teaser Trailer [HD]

Well, another attempt at the Godzilla franchise. This one looks pretty powerful, though.

A Sci-Fi Geek Confession

One key weakness of mine of late has been time. Time for such things as film watching. Though I watched such gems as The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey , I must admit to a key geek failure. One that might strain my geek-cred to a near breaking level. So, here goes: I hadn't watched the J.J. Abrams Star Trek reboot until yesterday. Yep; took me 4 years. FOUR! Sigh...I hang my head in geek shame. That said, I actually like the film. [Spoiler Alert: (Ok, come on, if you haven't seen it by now, you really shouldn't be put off by plot revelations) ]  I know that will annoy some, and delight others. I liked the way the characters were recrafted. The time-continuum disruption theme was pretty cool. I wondered how they would reconcile the story-line when they killed Spock's mother. Clever. I particularly like the edgier, closer to human Spock. I admit that the lens-flare business was a bit distracting at times. However, it's hard to extract Heisenberg from this (I was f...

Hidden Cameras

A friendly reminder that video cameras are everywhere. Shout out to AdRants for this. And this is from a promo postcard for an upcoming movie, "Look" .
